I am a former offender who is now an Employment Recruiter in Raleigh, NC working with former offenders who need and get second chances. Is the path easy no but we work hard with employers who is willing to give them opportunities based on job training class we offer. Strategic thinking is a must, knowing how to interview is key to the process. Be prepared to answer questions that explain your skills and abilities which will benefit the company. Think of this process as selling yourself to the employer. Research the company you are looking to work for you can usually find this information on the internet. Be prepared to ask them questions that reflect you took the time to find out about them. Dress professionally no matter what type of job you are going out for. Questions like "Tell me about yourself" Why should I hire you are questions you should be able to answer that tells the company what you have to offer the company. For those who need bonding there is the Federal Bonding Program offered by the Federal government that is offered to people with criminal backgrounds free of charge to the employer. Just put federal bonding program into google and follow the directions for your state.

Hello, first I want to thank you for your encouraging words in this posting, I admire the work your doing! I have a question, I committed theft 1 at my previous workplace by altering payroll to cash out on vacation leave. I served the 18 months probation, paying the restitution with minimum monthly pymts and basically trying my best to be a law abiding citizen. I've presented resume's and had interviews only to be turned down. I've presented professionally and having HR experience, I know what employers want to hear. Is it that I took from an employer that they just dont want to take a chance on me? What advice would you recommend, I've tried to be honest because that's the only right thing I know to do.

I am a former offender in Utah and cannot find a job for the life of me. I am not picky and i send out over 60 resumes a month. I have had well over a dozen companies that i have interviewed with offer me a job and within a day or two call me back saying they cannot hire felons and abruptly hang up the phone so i cant even plead my case. It is so frustrating. There is a government funded program in Utah called " Vocational Rehab" they help felons, addicts in recovery and people that have disability's get jobs. It's been about 6 months and they have no luck finding me a job. I've been looking for a job for 2 years now and dedicate at least 6 hours a day looking for a job. The felony i have is a drug related charge and i have graduated rehab and i have been sober for 20 months but it doesn't seem to matter at all to potential employers. If it wasn't for the occasional drug study that i have been participating in i'd be in jail or prison for not paying a monthly payment towards my 2,000$ court fine. I'm a very honest and dependable person but employers cannot see past my felony. Does anybody have any suggestions that could help me find a job? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

We need to get together and stop complaining to each other and put pressure on the system to stop being unfair and stop legal discrimination. That's why many ex offenders go back. Long term unemployment for anyone isn't good. First thing go to your congressman. I did. That crook got arrested. What a country. Just don't give up. Remember this system is made for you to fail. I will pray for all of you to be blessed in abundance.

I'd contact the Safer Foundation: They're based in Chicago, but they might be able to direct you to resources in Cincinnati. Your local Goodwill and Salvation Army can probably help too. Will you come back and let us know how it goes? Good luck!

The publish of an lawyer is one of the well-known roles in the area of law. Individuals talk extremely of lawyers, but when you look into their issues more carefully you will be able to know that the job of an lawyer is not an simple factor. Though their tasks are just like that of lawyers, they are not actually lawyers.

If you are considering selecting a protection attorney for a crime, it's in your best interest to know what your choices are and how they may impact you. The choices you make now when selecting a attorney, whether community or personal, may impact your life permanently or at least some time.

Hi! Being an entrepreneur isn't the ONLY option, but it certainly is one of the best. Especially in today's computer age (once you learn how to dodge the scams!)
I'm an ex-felon also. Been out since March 18, 2012. And the only jobs I could find were the low-paying, back-breaking ones. Nothing to start a career with. :(
I did start my own internet marketing company. You can take a look at my website if you like: (I'm "turning around" the 16.5 years I spent in prison!) I am also affiliated with a GREAT company who helps people like us. Start up is only $25 bucks and it really teaches you how to get on the internet and start making a living with it. That site is:
Check these both out (copy and past the url" class="glossary-icon">'s into your browser if you can't click on the links). Also, feel free to contact me through my website if you have any questions. I can help you.

Personal injury refers to damage incurred by a person, property or other people with the person because of someone else. The party causing the injury can be another person(s) or a company. People get injured due to slips and falls, motor vehicle accidents, the use of defective products, bites from animals, etc. They can also arise out of mishandling or abuse by professionals such as doctors, nurses, nursing home staff, or lack of proper security measures in the work place or false arrest. Personal injury may result in a lot of pain and suffering, both physical and mental. Many people are disabled every year due to personal injury, and many die.

As a business owner, you are usually run off your feet with the challenges of operating your business. The last thing you need to worry about is a legal problem. Many business people put off dealing with a legal problem because they don't know where to turn, don't have the time, or most often, are afraid of how much it will cost and how much time it will take. A popular and interesting route for any trainee solicitor would be to consider a Commercial Property Solicitor job. This is a fast moving and dynamic area of the law and although the current climate following the credit crunch has led to an overall downturn in the commercial property sector there are still opportunities available for commercial property solicitors. Those who have a Commercial Property Solicitors job advise on transactions and act for a variety of clients, including property investors and developers, local government and landowners.

I really believe that it should be illegal for companies to ask and/or hold it against a person who has paid their debt for the convictions and are wanting to move forward with their life, I really believe that's way a lot of those give up and return back to the old life style. each and ever person on this earth makes mistakes some just never get caught so I know that Jesus forgives why can't employers!!!!!

I hate to see people taken advantage of and I hate to see people suffer after choosing the wrong lawyer. Maybe those are two of the reasons that I became a lawyer, so that I could do something about those situations. I have seen clients who had lawyers neglect their cases for not just weeks but years. I have heard complaints about lawyers who would not tell the client what was going on with their cases, but would bill the client when the client called to ask what was happening.

Businesses that employ felons give many ex-cons the chance to continue their rehabilitation and studies show lower the recidivism rate. Companies hiring felons show in surveys that they can often be productive workers. Try to opt for part-time evening work as employers often, won't check your background. The unfortunate part here is, benefits are usually unavailable for these kinds of jobs. A majority of jobs are found through acquaintances contacts and personal connections. Talk to family and friends for any such job openings or opportunities that would consider you in spite of your record.
